Referencing parent from custom components

i'm starting project multiple developers , want split across collection of mxml files using custom components (the flex store example it's 3 states).

is there way reference scripts in parent document in components embedded , not have cc throw errors when compiled?

i not sure understand want work flow. each developer going need copy of full app develop / compile / test component. @ least need test harness of sort mimics interface. flex builder not effective @ building , compiling , testing components alone.

or asking how in general reference members of parent within child?
