Validating date form element

operating system , version: win 2000
macromedia product , version: dw8
browser , version: ie7

steps reproduce:
1) add form
2) name text form element named: <%= (icount & ".qty") %>
3) add button
4) add date validation, or better said .. try to.

the form element not listed in form, form elements needs named
as above (<%= (icount & ".qty") %>)

i tried renaming element 'date', worked, apply
validation , on code replace 'date' '<%= (icount & ".qty")
%>', doesnt work.

i using asp/vb ms sql 2000

how should solve ? cannot change name of element , need
to validate element date (mm/dd/yyyy).

bottom line: while element named <%= (icount & ".qty") %>
cannot apply validation it, tried several extensions, none work.
