Ultra-Portable Backpack Media Server/Internet AP - Raspberry Pi Forums

first post patient. first time forum poster , first time raspberry pi user.

on annual leave work , have heaps of time on hands. had idea of creating backpack raspberry pi media/storage server , internet access point. had idea when on train work. traveling, outdoors , on laptop. because i'm working on laptop swapping out usbs, external hard drives , other peripherals usb 3g modem.

after doing research on raspberry pi , others, thought ultra-portability of pi , how isn't electricity cruncher, somehow came backpack server of sorts.

thinking of using high capacity power banks (used phones) , combine them (somehow) portable power , stitching (somehow) small solar panels onto front of backpack. thats basic idea power. needing power indicator can tell when need chuck backpack in sun. need way plug power outlet major emergencies (over exaggerating idea).

have few ssds laying around i'm not short storage. better use ssds backpack , consume more power if have few separate drives?

, pi safety going buy 1 of plastic housing things online , going modify backpack to fit these items. cabling going thread through backpack super padded.

given battery powered need charged well, maybe can attached our makeshift battery pack , can charged when i'm outdoors in sun. 3 can chuck sim card in there configure manually (i called isp confirm). it's great idea share wifi on train , while you're out in public, thats i'll doing wont paying internet usage, work

there other things want add camera on shoulder strap acting makeshift action camera (currently strap gopro chest work (i have fun job )), i'm thinking may leave time.

if i've left out i'll surely add them later. love ideas, criticism and/or on cause trying keep self boredom. idea not need plugged power outlet ever that's far fetched idea pitching.

hi,

- highest capacity power bank can get
- assume 1a-1.5a draw (pi, ssd, wifi)
- unlikely can enough solar power worthwhile
- 1 bigger ssd draw less power 2 smaller ones
- use pi access point
- may have issues trying use 3g modem
- unless @ least 20w solar panel, don't bother
