Music Project - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i'm frustrated.  i've had website in development year @ www.bookandhire.com supposed have backend database. website musicians , performers , operates www.gigmasters.com musicians , bands sign service, post info themselves, upload songs or videos , event planners, brides be's, etc come in, browse through bands, select them , hire them on spot.  there bunch of other features being able search bands via location event, bands emails if meets listing, can send emails them, etc.  bunch of neat little things.

long story short, i've had 2 database developers working on site , both quit mid-stream.  i'm @ point i'm going myself , that's how found joomla.  question is, can joomla or there program out there may better suited it? know quite task, it's unix based server using mysql , phpmyadmin , joomla 1 of programs comes server space.  there's other database programs there come wrapped in "fantastico" package, don't want knee deep in taking on myself find out there program easier should have used instead.  among list are: drupal, mambo, phpnuke, phpwcms, postnuke, xoops, , other ones. 

i'm @ point i'm fed , i'm going myself , joomla looks user friendly of them non-database guys myself.  can make way around myadmin without getting scared, i'm pretty sure can make work.  without frills i'm wanting, @ least done in basic form.  question.  joomla going best bet making happen?

you may able "hack" - gigcalendar, aec, ja submit.

gigcalendar display , possible make reservation request.
aec charge , allow bands , such write content / information site.
ja submit make easy them submit content front-end.
