Quirky nRF24L01 voltage issues

hi all,

i have issue nrf24l01 module fail understand issue.  after various attempts hope here can maybe shed light on problem.

the arduino using pro mini 5v. so, somehow need 3.3v vcc of nrf24l01 module needs that.

i have tried various options, none work - one. in case printdetails() of rf24 library meaningful). , 1 rather strange...

electronics not per se thing, tinker , learn on go. maybe missing detail.

not working:

1) making voltage divider using 2700 , 5600 resistor. according https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/voltage-dividers/all return 3.36 volt. voltmeter agrees.

2) same setup, adding capacitor between vcc/gnd going module

3) using 4x 1.2aa nimh batteries power entire arduino (leaving ftdi vcc/gnd disconnected) on raw , gnd pin. making voltage divider these bateries.. still 0x00

4) using 2x 1.2 aa nimh batteries (giving 2.9v, freshly charged) directly power module (with , without capacitors), , arduino ftdi.

working:

5) powering arduino ftdi (or battery) , nrf24l01 module raspberry pi 3.3v vcc/gnd (as had module working on this, want communicate between rpi/arduino)

i rather clueless why powering rpi works , not batteries example. module should function @ 2.9v.  why other configurations not work strange me.

any suggestions? have ebay'ed voltage regulators, yet curious why not work has been bothering me many hours in last evenings...

thanks suggestions :)

this uneducated guess but:

voltage dividers voltage references not power supply.
i read output voltage varies load , waste allot of power.

measure voltage getting device when connected , powered apposed no load measurement have been taking voltage divider.

also sure taking voltage device right points in divider, if see 3.3 volts on 1 side see 1.7 on other.

i suspect voltage issue , divider cannot maintain voltage @ current require or using wrong side of divider , undersupplying voltage device.  either way test voltage device connected sure.

i think better of 3.3v linear voltage regulator, supply clean , stable 3.3 v.
