Thread: New Project - Open Source Locomotion type game

i have idea in head new open source project, , poll people involved in project in number of different roles - see poll above.

project transport simulator (a bit locomotion released on pc while back) following key features.

1 realistic route finding, through junctions.
2 signals per train based on pre-planned route (rather simplic signal per line regardless of route).
3 different types of passengers, based on locality of stations/airports etc.
4 multi trip passengers (so makes sense have station next airport, feed off each other).
5 ability manage schematic view of transport routes.
6 routes managed idependently of vehicles, easier add (or remove/upgrade vehicles).
7 lots of industry, building types attract (or maybe detract own type of cargo/passengers).
8 transport routes expand attraction of particular types of buildings - instance cinema in 1 town attract customers town (if passenger transport exists).
9 realistic travel times, , ability set (and measured on) timetables, or run free form (it leaves when full type service).
10 ability reserve land future routes (at smaller cost).
11 ability construct simple transfer points vehicle types (so raihead not needed @ every farm).
12 map/scenario editors
13 goal based winning conditions (or free form sandbox play)

nice have :
1 customisable graphic models buildings, vehicles etc.
2 full 3d implementation.
3 camera view track (or ride on) individual vehicles.
4 realistic business model, reasonable negotiations local councils (rather planting trees), advertising campaigns etc.
5 multiplayer options

i idea, wouldnt mind seeing evidence can write code, or kind of experience have developing software, have few other questions:

using launchpad or other code host?

going developed run natively on ubuntu? (if mac or windows rules me out.)

reason little cautious these things because dont want work, want work others , have fun.
