cross browser td or tr height issue

i have table based template responds differently in firefox , ie. want image , navigation remain @ top , let tr (line 50 in template) navigation table in carry down on long pages. works in firefox 1.5 not in ie6.

the cause because have split table much.

i this:

1) remove image , navigation table code. paste code
somewhere safe, can retrieve later.

2) merge 2 cells on left of main table (the 1 have
just removed above code from) 1 cell.

3) insert 1 col x 2 row table newly merged cell (don't give
the table width) insert image top cell ,
navigation table cell 2 of newly inserted table.

4) select cell inserted table in , give id
'midnav' blue background run entire depth of cell.
image covers top part of cell, doesnt matter
the color runs behind it.

5) select right cell of main table , give width of 100%
instead of 682. remove height 362 have somehow
attached <tr> tag.....that's not valid. might have go
code view this. dw let me delte within design view.

that should sort out problem. don't split , merge table
cell...nest instead.
