dual power uno, easydriver 4.4 , 24v stepper…..wiring questions???

hello, firs off getting started electronics side of project , getting feet wet in electronics in general too.

basically working toward using combination of arduino uno, easydrivers , stepper motors different cnc related projects, @ point doing proof of concept mini projects establish how going work myself.

i know these basic questions @ point shall "gun shy" seeing 1 of first things did fry first arduino uno plugging cold(not plugged in) 30v power supply it. (i trying see if connector right size arduino, guessing transformer or capacitors must have had enough juice fry something??? ideas???)  so in position not have lot of money , have had go out , buy new arduino uno @ shack $35 want sure here on out not going fry anything.

first question:

my basic setup arduino uno sending signals easydriver v4.4 wired mitsumi m42sp-6ta stepper motor(from old compaq printer).

my first setup using 12v 750ma wall power adapter plugged directly arduino uno , follow wiring seen in quick start guide

and used code here too.  all got barely audible wines , minor motor jumps when power plugged in.  now not sure of motor wiring tried many combinations , used millimeter find wires went don't know if issue no arrangement worked.

any suggestions?  am underpowered?

seccond question:

my plan in trouble shooting go bigger power supply easy driver , run arduino separately either off of usb or separate power supply, or possibly use dual power supply.

the issue want make sure wiring correctly don't blow arduino or easydriver.

any suggestions or help?

third question:

i have seed studio motor shield v1(i think) got @ radio shack.  now arduino shield in since stacks on top of it, , has power jumper think either allows powered arduino or power arduino?  

for testing setup should use this, although have 3 easydrivers , used more final projects?

if use leave jumper in place power shield , arduino separately or remove jumper?

any simple wiring directions?

thank reading , helping me issues.  i know basic , answers out there got overloaded conflicting info , worried fry arduino or easydriver.

i interested in different code test idea , test stepper motors in general if has suggestions great.

you seem have posted wrong link.

i'm guessing easydriver pages on sparkfun website explain how things should wired. not clear post what's causing trouble.

have information specifications stepper motor? can post link them? can post picture of motor (not large, please)?

in general easy drivers right thing control stepper motor, without having details of motor have impossible certain.
