Replacing specified colors with others (in depth)

yea, i've been trying have answered.... either program or technique

my question is, there such way can manipulate array of colors, can choose selection of colors, , have them replaced other colors may or may not of type of color @ all.. example if had image had several types of blues , yellows, , had image had several types of reds , greens, , wanted image red , green have exact corresponding colors image blue , yellow has, possible replace red , green image colors want have in it....?

know sounds vague, way can word it... maybe if can explain further... i'm trying create cool little box.. lets call border image now...it has range of reds in it, , name few colors in it, numbers read couple of them #511500, #b62a00, , #ea3700... , there bright , lighter reds have in border image different transparencies too... alright, wanted merge different image curent one, or add onto it, colors in image has colors border image doesn't have; picture has different blues, reds, yellows in it... there way, take colors in border image, , somehow replace colors in image want have same colors in border image..? or there isn't out there manually replace them, both images have same colors in them..??

ok... example... , in jpeg because put example too... end picture isn't going in jpeg... know border needs have things changed , played around with... , know hard notice hair having different colors border too; example....

all want know there way possible either take set of colors, make complete different picture have color change, in colors want... or there way transform picture have colors in border image... want uniform... it's way have it, , don't ask reasoning or coherency of ok... know there plugins out there replace colors, there can multiple colors simultaneously whole bunch want..

but on all... hair example.... wanted make hair, in number 3, have same exact colors in red casing.... how that...?? how different shades of yellow, when turned red color casing has, correspond shading red casing has, looks similar looks like.... yeah, change, still, want ( or really) have same exact colors in red casing.....

or.... isn't possible...??

what you're talking replacing color lookup table of 1 image color lookup table of another. (do google search clut.)

it's straightforward process in photoshop, using color table dialog (image>mode>colortable). convert image indexed color mode, save clut, open image, convert indexed color mode, , load saved clut.

in fireworks, open first image. in optimize palette, create , save custom color table. open other image. save as. in save dialog, click options. there have opportunity apply color table. navigate color table saved other image. save. open saved image. have been rebuilt colors saved clut.

there may more straightforward way accomplish in fw; don't use much. perhaps else can provide more info.
