Thread: Noob needs simple answer... connecting to home network.

quick question, @ house have 3mac's, 1 windows , 2 ubuntu systems on same home network. aside have internal hard drive on windows system shared storage.

if complete reboot of systems , modem/routers when go network (in ubuntu 8.10) can instantly access shared files on windows drive. then, few days later message saying "unable mount location" (the location smb:/// under properties) can still access other computers (mac's , windows) no problem.

matter of ip addresses changing? or funky ubuntu 8.10 i'm unaware of.

sorry i'm noob , looking quick answer or opinion on subject. step in right direction appreciated. thanks!!

way have samba installed on computer (cause it's standard right?) i'm not now, nor have ever configured talk windows shared drive... it's been there me use.
