Indian Languages Scripts in Unicode

hi all,

i kick start large software development project on flash platform in indian languages marathi, hindi.

i trying gather information on subject can. tried 1 simple task of writing name , friends name in flash document. strange, appears though flash documentation says flash compatible unicode not able show indian languages particularly marathi , hindi correctly. not aware other indian languages malayalam , kannad spacing between characters go haywire , makes changes in actual script. write same thing on notepad using unicode.

i tried non-unicode fonts , appears better , acceptable though not 100% correct. going pose huge problem.

i can send both files along fonts can me in matter.

i appreciate in matter.

regards,

nitin

you aren't going find news. sorry say. flash can import , show hindi (and i'm guessing marathi) correctly, kind of. problem can't embed fonts – have count on end user having unicode support , font language installed on end. modern systems have installed , should work, of course windows devanagari font different mac font. whole issue similar years of html design couldn't count on fonts laying out designer wish.

to it, need create text external text/xml files , save them utf-8 format. load them dynamically using either loadvars or xml classes.

the final step of problem flash doesn't know how break lines of unicode text. instead of breaking @ spaces, break @ whatever character feels like. need make code figures how long each new word make line , break text when long enough.

other works tread. :)

of course flash 7, haven't done in flash 8. don't know how change flash 9 , adobe ownership. no other adobe products seem support hindi either i'm not hopeful improving in area.
